Introduction

"Art that is not rooted in emotion is no art at all.
Emotion is the very essence of art, its beginning and its end."

These words by Paul Cézanne perfectly encapsulate the spirit of my collection, “AQUALCHEMY”.

Painting has always fascinated me, particularly for its boundless palette of colors and the emotions it evokes. This abstract and experimental collection embodies a quest for harmony and freedom inspired by the elements of water and air, which are at the heart of its essence.

Inspiration Behind the Collection

“AQUALCHEMY” is a portmanteau combining "Aqua" (water) and "Alchemy" (the magic that occurs when colors blend spontaneously). The collection draws from the exploration of liquid and aerial elements. Water, the ultimate agent of transformation, carries life and evolution, while air symbolizes breath, movement, and inspiration. Together, they create a world in perpetual flux, reflecting the fluidity and impermanence of existence.

Using liquid ink on canvas or Yupo paper, this technique achieves unpredictable results, mirroring the forces of nature. The ink flows and diffuses, forming organic, ethereal shapes that evoke multicolored coral reefs, distant galaxies, and surreal celestial landscapes. “AQUALCHEMY” invites viewers to immerse themselves in an infinite universe where water and air dance together, shaping a harmonious world.

Microcosm and Macrocosm

My collection invites exploration of the infinite universe that surrounds us, suggesting a profound connection between the microcosm and macrocosm—two sides of the same coin. From the tiniest ocean-dwelling particles to the farthest reaches of star-filled skies, beauty and perfection unfold infinitely. In a drop of water or a living cell, the complexity of life reveals itself: a world in motion, rich with ecosystems and processes occurring in each moment. Similarly, the vastness of space, with its galaxies and nebulae, evokes dreams of parallel universes.

The microcosm and macrocosm, united in complexity, create an eternal dance where each element is indispensable to the whole. Each painting in “AQUALCHEMY” reflects this universal unity, reminding us that every small part contributes to the delicate balance of existence. Oceanic abysses echo celestial galaxies, their shared poetry and symbolism bridging sea and sky in a visual symphony.

Artistic Techniques: Fluidity and Harmony

Created with liquid ink, sometimes enhanced with watercolor, “AQUALCHEMY” relies on an intuitive and experimental approach. Water and ink, combined with breath or spontaneous gestures, generate unpredictable patterns.

The interplay of colors, layers, and textures mirrors natural processes of creation and transformation. This technical fluidity embodies both freedom and the elusive nature of matter.

Each piece is unique - a fleeting work of art capturing a magical instant before the ink settles permanently, reflecting the impermanence of life while celebrating its beauty and intensity.

Symbolism and Philosophy

“AQUALCHEMY” resonates with a broader meditation on universal harmony. Inspired by Baudelaire’s poem Correspondances, the collection explores subtle links between natural elements, colors, forms, and human emotions. Each painting becomes a visual correspondence, a tangible expression of the universe’s fragile, perfect balance. The ink’s uncontrollable flow symbolizes the fleeting nature of life, reminding us to savor each moment amidst constant change.

“AQUALCHEMY” is an ode to the beauty of the unseen, a hymn to life and universal harmony, and a poetic tribute to nature’s creative power. It invites viewers to immerse themselves in a world where sky and ocean converge, marveling at the shapes and colors unfolding before their eyes.

Each painting opens a window to a realm where imagination and emotion reign supreme.

This collection joins my other works, including “CELESTIAL VISIONS”, “COSMOSIS” and “LUMINESCENCE”, in celebrating universal harmony. It reminds us that we are integral links in an infinite chain and that art has the power to reconnect us to the essentials of life.
