The story behind

In this painting, a blazing spur rises from the turquoise waves, like a pillar standing between sea and sky. It evokes Atlas, the Titan of Greek mythology condemned to carry the celestial vault for eternity. The vivid hues—red, gold, copper and pink—express both the weight of this colossal burden and the vital force animating this mythical realm. The island becomes a metaphor: both refuge and prison, where humankind, like Atlas, carries the weight of the world and its choices upon its shoulders.
