The story behind
My semi-abstract painting "In Between" evokes the inner journey and the search for self. The sailboat, drifting between two possible directions, serves as a symbolic representation of the choices every human being must face - between different paths, possibilities, or destinies.
The soft, soothing colors of the background contrast with the more vigorous brushstrokes, which reflect the inner turmoil that one may feel when confronted with an important decision. Notice how the sailboat is oriented toward the right, as if favoring that direction - yet its trajectory remains uncertain, ambiguous. It has not fully set its course; it hesitates, lingering before an open yet elusive horizon.
The sea, a powerful force, represents both the strength of life and the fragility of human existence in the face of greater elements. It serves as a metaphor for the vast unknown - offering boundless opportunities, yet carrying the weight of unpredictability.
The sunset, painted in nuanced shades of yellow, orange, and brown, evokes the autumn of life - the season of reflection and reassessment. It suggests a moment of pause, contemplation, and introspection, where past choices and future possibilities intersect.
Thus, my painting can be seen as a metaphor for existence itself, constantly evolving, where the choices we make shape our journey and lead us toward different horizons.
It invites the viewer to reflect on the paths we take in life and the impact of our decisions - a reminder that, just like the sailboat, we are all navigating between possibilities, seeking direction amid the vastness of the unknown.
