Quintessence (1176)

In this eruption of colour, two elemental forces clash and entwine in this painting: incandescent red and oceanic blue. Fire, akin to molten lava, descends from the heights with its full creative power, while water—fluid and ever-shifting—rises to meet it, soothing, transforming, and tempering its intensity. Where the two converge, matter is transfigured: flashes of purple, hints of green, mineral expanses, all appearing as nascent seeds of life. One imagines the birth of new lands here, where rock heated by volcanic fire merges with the coolness of the sea to bring forth fertility. This is where the first covenant of creation is inscribed: without fire, no impetus; without water, no life. And perhaps the key to the mystery lies in this eternal alliance of opposites?
