In this painting, one can fancy a landscape both mineral and aquatic. Above, whites and golds stream down in a sparkling rain, scattered with fine cells resembling shards of light trapped within matter. At the centre, greens and turquoises flow in liquid sheets, blending with deeper blues like a celestial river winding through unseen contours. Lower down, mauves and browns are set ablaze with golden touches, evoking an original earth—fertile and incandescent. The whole emanates a sense of fragile balance between fluid and solid, between water and stone, between the celestial and the terrestrial. Every detail appears to bear witness to the passage of time, as though the universe preserved within itself the traces of its successive metamorphoses.
