Introduction

"To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wildflower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour."

These words by William Blake perfectly encapsulate the essence of my "RENAISSANCE" collection - a tribute to the lost paradise, the pursuit of the sublime, and the renewal of life.

Composed of five series of semi-figurative paintings, this collection invites reverie in a dreamlike Eden, where corals and flowers entwine to create an eternal spring, bathed in iridescent light and infused with hope.

Inspiration For The Collection

Life mirrors a wildflower, living no more than two of our four seasons. It blooms in spring, a magical moment of grace, then flourishes, vibrant, under Amon’s sun. But it wilts and crumples one brown autumn day… and nothing replaces it when winter comes. In this land of ice, filled with muddled memories untouched by sunlight, hope seems lost - unless a rainbow illuminates the void, drawing once more the covenant of the Beginning… the one made with Noah, near a mountain, a sign of renewal. Life is a flower, lighter than a feather; I call it "Happiness," for it does not last. A fragile bloom far from the asphalt, its stem may be cut, but it never protests. For when its stem is cut, its verdant wings of a bird, it is only to offer it - because life is a gift!

At the dawning autumn of my life, I still dream of an eternal spring, where hope might blossom, a promise of blue tomorrows. "RENAISSANCE" is the name I chose for this collection - a nod to my favorite historical period, celebrated for its creativity and renewal.

Yes… life resembles a wildflower: ephemeral and precious, fragile yet resilient. It blooms in an instant of grace, flourishes, and inevitably fades, swept away by autumn’s winds. But like nature’s cycle, it always renews itself, offering the promise of awakening and rebirth. This quest for an eternal spring, a rediscovered paradise, lies at the heart of my "RENAISSANCE" collection.

Symbolism and Poetry of Eden

In this imaginary world, corals and flowers intertwine to create utopian landscapes and patterns.

These patterns are imbued with a profound symbolic dimension:

  • The flowers: They represent life, fleeting beauty, but also hope and rebirth. Each petal, bathed in shimmering light, tells a story of the ephemeral transformed into eternity.
  • The corals: Echoing the depths of the marine abyss and featured in my collection "Aqualchemy", they embody my vision of Paradise: a garden nestled between two seas (the one above and the one below, as described in the separation narrative of Genesis). They symbolize the harmony between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds, the tangible and the intangible.
  • The light: The iridescence of colors, achieved through highly diluted ink, symbolizes divine grace and infinity. It suffuses each canvas with a mystical aura, evoking the perfection of a lost world. It is an ode to the glory of the Creator of all that exists.

Artistic Techniques: Abstract Flowers of Light and Color

For "RENAISSANCE", I adopted a semi-figurative approach that combines various techniques, including ink and watercolor. Rich textures and vibrant palettes recreate the abundance of an idealized garden. Flowers and corals emerge sometimes clearly, sometimes abstractly, leaving ample room for viewers’ imaginations.

The fluid movements and luminous nuances capture the vital energy of nature. This approach evokes a creative breath, a perpetually renewing energy. Each painting invites contemplation of the world’s harmony and marveling at the simple yet sublime miracles of nature.

Philosophical Approach: Living in the Present Moment

In the imaginary Garden of Eden that I ceaselessly pursue through my collections, one rule prevails: to cherish each moment like a fragile flower, for happiness is but fleeting moments gathered in a bouquet…

As in one of my favorite films, (“Dead Poets Society”) the "RENAISSANCE" collection whispers two magical words: “Carpe Diem!” Each moment is a delicate flower, a unique opportunity to live fully and appreciate the surrounding beauty. As Pierre de Ronsard said: "Gather the roses of life today."

The paintings in this collection, bathed in light and hope, encourage us to slow down, dream, and reconnect with the essential.

They remind us that, despite life’s trials and winters, spring always returns. Creativity, like nature, is an inexhaustible source of renewal and inspiration.

An Invitation to Dream and Renewal

"RENAISSANCE" is a celebration of life, art, and hope. It invites us to imagine a world where beauty is eternal, where each moment is precious, and where the possibilities for creation and renewal are infinite.

By contemplating these enchanting imaginary gardens, I hope every viewer finds a spark of inspiration and an invitation to rebirth, at any moment in their lives.
In this garden of light and color, the flowers of my collection "RENAISSANCE" remind us that life is a precious gift to be cultivated with love and wonder. Let us gather the roses of life today… and forevermore!

Carpe Diem!
