"The artist must not copy nature but take the elements of nature and create a new element."

These words by Paul Gauguin perfectly capture the essence of my collection, "NATURESSENCES", which explores nature as the matrix of all life and an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Matter is omnipresent, embodied in thick layers of color worked with a palette knife, creating dynamic and vivid textures.

"NATURESSENCES", blending "Nature" and "Essences," celebrates life in all its forms and invites deep reflection on our relationship with the universe.

Inspiration Behind the Collection

Passionate about Romantic poetry - whether French, with Alphonse de Lamartine or Victor Hugo, or English, with William Wordsworth, John Keats, and Walt Whitman - I conceived "NATURESSENCES"as an ode to nature, to its tangible and spiritual essence alike.

In this collection, nature becomes a sanctuary, a sacred space where the human soul can reconnect with what is essential. It is through nature that the Creator manifests magnificence, embodying the perfection of His creation.

The Romantic poets, whose vision aligns with my artistic approach, often saw nature as a direct expression of the divine, a space where the harmony and beauty of creation could be contemplated without obstruction.

Evoking the "Garden of Eden," my paintings seek to recreate this idyllic place, imbued with serenity, untouched by the chaos of modern life. In this space of reflection, the frenetic, hyper-connected materialism of today, which leaves little room for sacred silence, has no place. In "NATURESSENCES", nature becomes an invitation to slow down, to dream, to savor silence, and to reflect on the meaning of life.

Symbolism and Poetic Dimensions

In "NATURESSENCES", nature is more than a theme: it is a language, a living metaphor to express profound ideas about life, truth, and spirituality. The VERSE of poets amplifies the GREEN of nature, as if the latter were both a symbol and a vehicle of hope.

Guided by the rhythm of the four seasons - especially Spring, my favorite season - this nature exalts the renewable power of life. It sings of LIFE, with a capital "L," as a sign of VICTORY; for nature, when contemplated, inevitably leads to TRUTH. Thus, nature is also a Path - THE PATH. This nature is sacred.

In my collection, nature is stylized, with organic forms and vibrant colors. The luminous greens and touches of springtime hues symbolize hope and renewal. It becomes a journey toward truth, a path that leads to a deeper understanding of oneself and the universe.

Natural elements - trees, flowers, foliage - appear as timeless archetypes. They embody both the serenity and dynamism of life, reminding us that nature is both the matrix and mirror of human existence.

Artistic Techniques: A Living Matter

For "NATURESSENCES", I chose to work with a palette knife, temporarily setting aside the brush. This technical choice conveys the raw, organic energy of nature. The thick, textured layers create palpable reliefs, reminding us that nature, like life, is full of substance.

Although the paint in this collection is treated as dense, structured material, the movements remain dynamic and light - life is never static. The vivid and contrasting colors express the vitality and richness of life.

The textures suggest the wind sweeping through a wheat field or the ripples of a brook under a spring breeze.

Indeed, the Wind, as a "breath," is a recurring theme linking "NATURESSENCES" to my other collections.

This creative breath shapes landscapes, bends the reed without breaking it; it inspires poets to seek the hidden meaning of things and bring it to light.

Philosophy and Emotion

With "NATURESSENCES", I hope to show that emotion always has the final word over reason. The paintings in this collection do not aim to faithfully replicate nature but to convey its essence. As Vauvenargues wrote: "Reason deceives us more often than nature."

Thus, "NATURESSENCES" is an invitation to feel, to contemplate, and to marvel. It is a reflection on the importance of reconnecting with nature in a modern world that tends to alienate us from it. Each canvas is a tribute to the beauty of life, a declaration of love for the richness and complexity of existence.
