The story behind
In the beginning, there was nothing. A silence without contour, a night without end. Not even a shadow. Only waiting, infinite and pure. Then suddenly, a spark, a creative breath of all things: THE breath. A pulse within stillness, a flame within the void. And nothingness tore apart, giving birth to light. From this nothing arose everything: space, time, matter… ex Nihilo? Perhaps not, which is why the title bears a question. For I think, I believe, I feel that Creation answers to a perfect plan! It rises like a cry. A silent cry, yet powerful enough to overturn the abyss. Each star that bursts forth is a syllable of this primal song. Each galaxy, a phrase in expansion. From the invisible is born the visible universe. From absence springs abundance. This is the ultimate mystery: the source has no source. The cradle is the void, and yet it gives birth. Look at this eruption, this “big bang” that everyone invokes to describe the birth of the universe: it is not only cosmic, it is interior. For within us too dwells this fertile nothingness. Every thought, every dream, every breath emerges from the unknown. Thus, this painting does not merely offer a vision of the origin of the world. It reminds our soul that we were all created in the image of the Creator, to be creators in our turn and to radiate His light with the greatest reverence. Ex nihilo: from the void, we can make everything arise. From the shadow of chaos, light is born. From trials, we rise stronger. And therein lies perhaps the greatest promise of life: when all seems lost, light can always be reborn.
