The story behind
In the silence of ancient cellars, the master winemakers know: there is a portion that evaporates, an invisible share that does not belong to them. It is called “the angels’ share.” It is the subtle breath of wine rising from the casks toward heaven, like a perfumed offering, like a prayer from the earth ascending to the stars. This painting, which symbolically borrows the image for its title, expands this earthly secret to the measure of the universe. Here, it is not merely the aroma of a vintage, but the essence of all humanity rising, consumed by love and fire. Fiery bursts surge upward, blending shadow and radiance, as if the angels came to drink from the cup of the world, filling themselves with what is both given and lost. For what evaporates is never truly gone. The angels’ share is celestial memory, a luminous trace of our lives poured out, a secret breath that unites matter to the divine. And in this canvas, one understands that every breath, every offering, every fragment of beauty left upon the earth finds its dwelling in Heaven. The angels’ share is ourselves, it is what is immortal in our gestures, what escapes the weight of our earthly lives and returns to the Light.
