The story behind

A great fish seems to surge from the heart of this painting, mouth agape, poised to engulf the shimmering matter that surrounds it. All about, deep blues evoke a cosmic ocean, while reds and golds seethe like shoals of luminous prey. It is an archaic vision: that of the first great marine beings, born to feed on moving matter and to perpetuate the cycle of life. The painting seems to narrate the instant when instinct—raw and essential—emerges in the universe. Here, there is no cruelty, only the sacred logic of survival, of balance. This cosmic fish thus becomes a symbol: to nourish oneself in order to grow, to absorb in order to transform, to welcome matter so as to turn it into energy.
