Quintessence (848)

This canvas appears to blaze with an inner sun. Golds and yellows radiate in luminous haloes, blending with incandescent reds and touches of purple that evoke the embers of a sacred fire. Around them, deep blues and turquoise flow like celestial rivers, their liquid coolness soothing the intensity of the flames. At the heart of this encounter, cells multiply endlessly, like bubbles of life in gestation, giving the painting the look of a world in perpetual metamorphosis. The eye constantly oscillates between the impression of an earthly landscape—rock, water, fire, light—and that of a distant sky in full expansion. All is movement, circulation, vibration. This work seems to contain both the birth of a universe and the memory of an ancient world, as if inviting us to contemplate the eternal return of cycles.
