Flight of Lyricism

There are beings too vast for this world. Their wings open to the infinite sky, yet on earth they seem burdens. This painting, inspired by the poem “The Albatross,” “prince of the clouds” by Charles Baudelaire (“Exiled on the ground amidst the jeers, his giant wings prevent him from walking…”) does them justice. In the starry mists, a white winged form rises, not heavy nor clumsy, but sovereign, borne by light. It is the albatross of dreams, bird of the heights, poet of space. Here it is no longer prisoner of ship decks, mocked by those who do not see its grandeur. It regains its kingdom: the ether. Each star becomes a note, each cloud a breath of music. It is a lyrical flight, a silent song that pierces the soul. Not a lament, but an exaltation, not a fall but, on the contrary, an ascension. The bird embodies the artist, alien to the weights of the world yet intimate with mystery. This painting tells the viewer that art is not of this earth: it is a window open to the beyond. And the one who contemplates rises in turn. They feel their own invisible wings unfold in the silence of the heavens. And then, like Baudelaire’s albatross, they understand that their true dwelling is not the earth, but infinity, between WATER and AIR.
