The story behind

In a dreamlike atmosphere, my painting "Dreamswards" (in french, the original Title is "La clef des songes", which means "The Key of Dreams") presents itself as a passage to the unseen - a door left ajar, revealing the intangible realm of visions and mysteries.

Inspired by the story of Joseph, son of Jacob, whose prophetic dreams shaped his destiny, this work explores the power and responsibility of gazing beyond the veil of reality. For if sight is a gift, understanding and revelation are burdens.

Painted with both incisive knife strokes and soft, almost watercolor-like washes, the canvas oscillates between strength and delicacy, between revelation and secrecy. It captures the inherent tension of dreams, shifting between light and shadow, sudden clarity and elusive enigma.

Here, forms extend like waves, floating in a silent sea where mystery reveals itself only to those who dare to seek it. Much like Joseph’s visions - his gift, both a blessing and a curse - dreams are fluid, fragmented, and ephemeral, subtle guides that disclose themselves only to those capable of deciphering their meaning.

Gold and deep blue dominate the composition, weaving a dialogue between divine illumination and the unfathomable infinite. Gold, symbol of wisdom and revelation, glimmers in scattered touches, lighting the path of those who seek truth. Blue, profound and enigmatic, cloaks the scene in an aura of the unknown, reminding us that every spiritual quest is accompanied by doubt and silence. At the heart of this ocean of mystery, fleeting, almost ethereal shapes emerge—dreams floating on the surface of the mind, reflections of hidden truths.

And then, there is the "key" (french Title of my painting)... Not a mere object, but a powerful symbol: the gateway to knowledge, the hidden power that lies behind the veil of the visible. It is the tool of the seer, but also the burden of the wise, for every revealed truth carries responsibility. Should all be spoken, all unveiled? Or must some things remain sealed, protected from souls that could not bear them without being crushed beneath their weight?

The composition plays with intersecting lines, suggesting a complex path - a journey strewn with trials and riddles. Just as Joseph learned that truth can be both salvation and suffering, this painting poses a question: What is the purpose of knowledge if one does not know when and how to offer it to the world?

"Dreamswards" (or "The Key of Dreams") is not merely a painting; it is an invitation to contemplation. It reminds us that every dream holds a truth, but not all truths are meant to be shared. For wisdom lies not only in revelation but in restraint. One must learn to listen to what dreams whisper - but also to understand that some secrets must remain inviolate.

Thus, before this work, the viewer is drawn into a deeply personal reflection: What would they do if they held the key? Would they dare to turn it? Or would they come to understand that the greatest power sometimes lies in what remains hidden?
