In this painting, matter appears in a state of perpetual fusion, as if the canvas were capturing the very instant when the universe and the ocean become one. Acidic greens surge forth like phosphorescent seaweed or engulfed northern lights. The purple deepens into abyssal shadows, while flecks of gold and orange scatter like shooting stars or shoals of glittering fish. Browns and beiges recall the earth, anchoring this effervescence in a plane that is more organic, almost mineral.
